Alma Enterprise, Friday, June 1, 1906, page 1, Out of Town Notes: "Sylvan Grieser of Kaw was instantly killed by a bolt of lightning near Shawnee, Ok. last Thursday. He was a young man about 23 or 24 years of age and went to Shawnee early this spring. He was cultivating corn on the big dairy farm near Shawnee when he was killed. He was an only son and his parents and three sisters will feel his loss very keenly. His remains were brought back Saturday and interment was in Greenwood cemetery."
His name is spelled Silven on the tombstone he shares with his mother, Eliza Margaret Grisier.
